Donbasenergo declares getting out from the "defaulted" status
10-08-2021

Today, on August 10, 2021, PJSC Donbasenergo lost the "defaulted" status assigned to it by NEC Ukrenergo. Sloviansk TPP is expected to be connected to Ukraine's Unified Energy System on August 12, 2021.

As a reminder, there was an avalanche of electricity prices in early July. This, coupled with persistent market juggling and the flawed regulatory framework within which Ukraine's power generation industry has to operate, made it impossible for the Company to comply with its financial obligations to Ukrenergo.

Donbasenergo resumes operations amid challenging conditions and major day-ahead market price swings." We expect the government to take the next steps to establish an economically justified price for energy resources, allowing the thermal generation industry to meet its obligations to accumulate coal for the autumn-winter period of 2021/2022 and bringing thermal generation out of its long-term crisis," said Oleh Larionov, Donbasenergo's Commercial Director.

For reference: As of August 01, 2021, 60.86% holder of PJSC Donbasenergo is ENERGOINVEST HOLDING Private Joint Stock Company, 25% + 1 share are held by the state represented by the State Property Fund of Ukraine.

PJSC Donbasenergo unites two power plants: Sloviansk and Starobeshevi TPP (the latter has been located in the territory beyond the control of Ukraine since 2014). Since March 2017, due to the loss of control over the temporarily occupied Donetsk Region, annual performance indicators of assets located there are not included in Donbasenergo consolidated records of accounts.

The total installed capacity of Sloviansk TPP is 880 MW.
